Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park Experiential Virtual Tour

Explore Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park

Disney’s Animal Kingdom, a zoological theme park at the Walt Disney World Resort, is the largest theme park in the world spanning 580 acres. The park is themed and dedicated around the natural environment and animal conservation, once a philosophy pioneered by Walt Disney. Disney’s Animal Kingdom differs from the other theme parks in the resort in that it features traditional attractions while hosting hundreds of species of live animals. Special designs and provisions were incorporated throughout the park due to these sensitive conditions. Disney Imagineers traveled to Africa and Asia to study the landscapes and wildlife while also collecting seeds from 37 countries to be used for the plants and grasses in the park. A 145 foot tall, 50 foot wide artificial baobab tree stands as the parks icon, otherwise known as the Tree of Life.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom opened on Earth Day, April 22, 1998. In 2018 Disney’s Animal Kingdom hosted 13.75 million guests, making it the third most visited theme park in North America. The park is divided into seven themed areas, Oasis, Discovery Island, Pandora – The World of Avatar, Africa, Rafiki’s Planet Watch, Asia and DinoLand U.S.A.
